Bridgeport Fittings sponsored six students from Milford’s Platt Technical High School to take part in the EASTEC ‘Bright Minds Challenge,’ May 13 in West Springfield, Mass.
Prior to the event, the Bridgeport company interviewed the students about their ‘Bright Minds Challenge’ projects and offered guidance.
Student projects involve a Lean Manufacturing challenge and a Reverse Engineering challenge, divided between two teams of Platt students. Using information about Bridgeport Fittings’ Stratford operations, students were expected to come up with solutions to make manufacturing processes more efficient and to work effectively with individual tooling components, a tooling assembly, or a CNC produced component.
EASTEC is New England’s premier manufacturing exposition with more than 500 exhibitors. The event encompasses manufacturing ideas, processes and products that are highlighted through exhibits, education and networking sessions.
