Bridgeport Rescue Mission (BRM) recently named R.D. Scinto, Inc. as their Corporate Compassion in Action honoree for their 2015 Restore Hope Banquet.

Chairman Robert (Bob) Scinto will accept the recognition at the Hilton Hotel in Stamford on Thursday, Sept. 24, at BRM’s annual Restore Hope Banquet, which is the cornerstone of its annual Restore Hope Campaign in support of the Mission’s ongoing programs and services in coastal Fairfield County.

In choosing an honoree, BRM looks for corporations who are willing to put hands and feet to work to serve the hungry, homeless and addicted; that advocate publicly for the poor and downtrodden of Fairfield County; and that commit financial and material resources to make a significant impact on the lives of the poor.

“Bob and his company fully demonstrated all three of these exceptional characteristics last year,” said BRM Executive Director Terry Wilcox. “They orchestrated a hugely successful coat drive for the Mission’s Great ThanksGiving Project that touches the lives of 3,000 local families in Bridgeport and So. Norwalk. They recommended the Mission to benefit from the St. Anthony of Padua annual fundraiser, resulting in nearly $20,000 for the Mission’s Main Campus Kitchen Renovation Project. And they made a significant financial commitment toward the Mission’s Matching Challenge campaign, which helped inspire others to give generously raising a total of more than $200,000. The Mission is truly grateful for their dedication and partnership.”

Scinto explained the reason for his company’s generous support of BRM: “My favorite quote in the Bible is, ‘What you do for the least of my brothers you do for me.’ Everything we do here at R.D. Scinto, Inc. we do with the idea of serving other people, and I don’t think anyone does a better job than Bridgeport Rescue Mission. It just brings us a lot of joy, especially with families who are receiving coats we collected for the winter; we get so much joy from helping other people.” Mr. Scinto went on to say how humbled and honored he is to be this year’s honoree.

When asked about his personal financial contributions to BRM, Scinto stated, “At the end of the day, I try to give to where the money can be best used. Where it reaches those in need and with something like this you know BRM is reaching and helping men, women and children in need.”
