Milford Police Reports: October 9

Larceny

A Milford man who allegedly rented a car from a local business nine years ago and never returned it was arrested on a warrant Oct. 4.

Police said Michael Whelan, 53, of Boston Post Road, rented a vehicle from a Bridgeport Avenue business in October 2006 and never returned it.

He is charged with larceny and has been released from police custody on his promise to appear in court Oct. 27.

 

Risk of injury

Police charged a Milford man with risk of injury to a minor for allegedly leaving a 15-month-old child home alone while he walked around his neighborhood drunk.

Police said that at 8:30 p.m. Oct. 4, they responded to the area of Melba Street near Beachland Avenue on the report of an intoxicated man roaming the neighborhood. Investigation led to the arrest of Jason Demonte, 31, of Melba Street, who is accused of leaving his child unattended in an unsecured home for over an hour.

Bond was set at $75,000.

 

Marijuana

Milford police arrested Marc Baillargeon, 29, of Milford on Sept. 28 after officers stopped his vehicle on Bridgeport Avenue.

Police say that during the stop Baillargeon became confrontational with the officer and attempted to flee the scene.

After being taken into custody, Baillargeon was found in possession of less than one-half ounce of marijuana and a digital scale.

Baillargeon is charged with interfering with an officer, possession of less than half an ounce of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was released on a promise to appear in court on Oct. 27.

 

Narcotics

Milford police arrested Valerie Smallen, 26, of Meriden and Robert Delio, 27, of Milford on Sept. 29 after officers stopped a vehicle with Smallen and Delio inside.

Investigation revealed both parties were in possession of prescription drugs neither possessed a prescription for. Delio was also found to have a small amount of marijuana he was attempting to conceal.

Smallen is charged with possession of narcotics and illegal storage of narcotics.

Delio is charged with illegal storage of narcotics, possession of less than half an ounce of marijuana and possession of narcotics.

Both were released on a promise to appear in court on Oct. 27.

 

Check forgery

Milford police took custody of Davon Johnson, 20, of Bridgeport on an active warrant for his arrest on October 1.

Police accuse Johnson of stealing a check and depositing it into his personal checking account without the permission of the check owner.

Johnson is charged with sixth-degree larceny and third-degree forgery.

He was released on a promise to appear in court on Oct. 27.

 

Assault

Milford police took custody of Kyle Hungerford, 19, of Stratford on Oct. 1 on an active warrant for his arrest.

Police say Hungerford engaged in a physical altercation with a female on Sept. 26 at a Milford residence when investigators discovered that Hungerford had two active warrants for his arrest for failure to appear in court on Aug. 3, 2015.

Police say those warrants related to two previous charges of breach of peace in Milford.

Hungerford is charged with violating a protective order, third-degree assault, disorderly conduct and two counts of failure to appear in court.

Bond was set at $27,500 for court on Oct. 2.

 

Protective order

Milford police took custody of Austin Bacon, 23, of Milford on Oct. 2 regarding an active warrant for his arrest.

Police accuse Bacon of violating a court-set protective order in August by knowingly going to the workplace of a female who holds a full no-contact protective order against him.

Bacon is charged with violating a protective order.

Bond was set at $5,000 for court on Oct. 15.

 

Threatening

Milford police arrested Peter Soter, 48, of West Haven on Oct. 3 after officers responded to the area of West Main Street and Constitution Drive on a report of a domestic violence incident in progress.

Investigation led to the arrest of Soter, who is accused of engaging in a physical altercation with a male and then threatening to kill a female who attempted to break up the altercation.

Soter is charged with threatening and second-degree breach of peace.

Bond was set at $500 for court on Oct. 5.
