UPDATE: Milford police say a woman in her late forties was robbed after she walked to her car through Wilcox Park Saturday following the Milford St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

The annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade ended Saturday, March 9, at about 2:30 p.m., after which the downtown area becomes a hotspot for post-parade dining and celebrating.

The woman left the downtown area between 5 and 6 p.m. and walked on the roadway through Wilcox Park, which is behind the public library, to her car when the attack occurred.

The woman had parked her car at the intersection of Harborside Drive and Bedford Avenue.

Police said as she was walking to her car, a man approached her and talked to her. Then he threw her to the ground and took some of her personal belongings.

The man is described as white, about 5’6” and stocky, with brown hair.

The woman suffered minor scratches but otherwise was not injured. Her assailant did not display any type of weapon, police said.

The woman walked to a nearby home to ask for help and called police.

Police ask anyone that may have witnessed the attack or seen the assailant to call Officer Dennis Broderick at 203-783-4732.
